Have you ever gone by a river or stream and seen trash floating around? I just don't understand it! How can someone miss the trashcan BY THAT MUCH?

Tell me about it! Thank goodness for National River Clean Up Week. This week people will be meeting at local streams and rivers in organized groups to clean them up. Picking up trash not only makes things prettier, but also makes it safer for birds and fish and other animals that use the river for food, water and... transportation!

It's really easy to help out — I bet even Hoyt could do it. Head to the National River Clean Up Week or this Detroit River site which has links in Canada. See if you can join an existing clean-up, or learn how to organize one near where you live.
