I think polar bears are the coolest. First of all, they're huge. Second of all, they eat a lot. What other 1,000 pound animal eats 100 pounds of food in one meal AND is an excellent swimmer? I can only dream about being that cool.

Ahem. Your vote of confidence is heart-warming, dear cousin. Anyway, ever since I saw An Inconvenient Truth, I've been worried about those big lovable bears. Which is why I'm glad that the United Nations — some big world governmenty-thing — has dedicated this year's World Environment Day to the Arctic.
Apparently, global warming is causing the ice caps to melt. So now those big bears have only little bitty, melting ice things to rest on while hunting for food. Poor bears!

I say we need to help the bears! But what can we do, you ask? Do something to take care of the earth! It can be something really small, like turning off the lights when you are not using them. The important thing is to make it a habit — and get others to, as well.

Also, I found this weird, really long list of things we can do to celebrate World Environment Day. Here are a few I like:
- Bicycle parades
- Keep your neighborhood clean
- Tree planting
Check out the list to find something you can do!
