Ugh. Please don't remind him...
Did someone say walk to school? In MY day we had to walk three miles, rain or shine. Or snow. Or hail. Or drizzle. Or drizzle that looked like hail but was really regular drizzle only bigger. You kids don't know how lucky you are.
I warned you not to set him off. Still, try this out: this site lets you calculate your neighborhood's "Walk Score." Walking to school is green because it uses no gasoline and doesn't pollute. No carbon footprint! It's also very good to get outdoors and enjoy the world around you and get a little exercise while you're at it.
Neat. That site isn't bad: you type in your address (with your parents' permission!) and it finds all the schools, restaurants, grocery stores and things that are within walking distance. Then it spits out a number — the closer you are to 100, the more walkable your neighborhood.
How do you get around in your neighborhood? Do you think a Walk Score is important? Tell us your Walk Score!
