Awesome! There's nothing nicer than making a Web site and getting mail about it. What does he say?
"Your web site is illogical, confusing, and hypocritical."
Er... go on. Does he say "Not!!"? That Zachary! I'll bet he's quite a joker.
Let's see. I don't think so... He says, "If we followed your advice, the human race would lose all advances and comforts of modern times. And these kids suffer some disease which is why they are so pale and they look nauseated. The boy shouldn't hate his mom's boyfriend just because he is apparently a pain in the ozone. Global warming is either not real, or a natural cycle for Earth. Even if global warming happened, scientists say it would lead to greater species diversity, not lesser. The kids are also obsessed with this and it seems dumb to start a website, which they say hurts the environment and heats up our Earth. Thank you for your time."
Dex, he's absolutely right!
Huh?
You do look a bit pale. You should get out more, Dex! Get some sunshine.
What about that other stuff he said?
I don't remember us ever saying we should give up modern advances or comforts, did we? We HAVE talked about all kinds of cool stuff that's modern AND good for the planet. New forms of energy. Biomimicry in fashion design. New kinds of transport. But I DO think we shouldn't waste resources or use stuff just because we can.
Zachary makes some good points. The Earth does have cycles and some animals may benefit from warmer temperatures. But that thing about "scientists say it would lead to greater species diversity" is not true if he means "most scientists," Izz. "The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change" — one of the most-respected groups of scientists reporting on the climate — gave us a lot of detailed warnings about what will happen to plants and animals on the planet if we don't change things. And the VERY FIRST line of their report on climate change and biodiversity says, "At the global level, human activities have caused and will continue to cause a loss in biodiversity."
So, Zachary, thank you for email. Just because we don't agree doesn't mean we don't want to hear from you. Seriously! And what do YOU other readers think about all this? Tell us!
