Dex, what does REDUCE mean to you? You know, as a "being green" thing.
Uh... that we should use shrink rays to make us all smaller? That way we'd take up less room, and could fit more people in a car. Or we could be REALLY small and travel in teeny-tiny pods, made from walnut shells, that are carried by trained pigeons who...
Okayyy... you work on that one. But until we have the shrink rays, we all need to Use Less Stuff: less energy, less packaging, less cars, less electricity, less machinery to do simple things we can do ourselves. It's our endless STUFF that seems to be the big problem around here.
I get it. Less is more. How about these? Less homework. Less annoying teachers. Less having to wash my hair.
Surprisingly, coming from you, that last one WOULD help... at least if you use less water. If I were you, I'd still try to wash it at least once a month, whether it needs it or not.
You're going to do this too, right? I mean, get less stuff?
Yep! Instead of people getting me more stuff on my next birthday, I'm thinking about asking them to donate money to a charity of their choice.
Wow! That's great. If you do that, I think I'll donate MY present to that animal shelter. It should be a lot of money, too, 'cause I was going to get you something REALLY cool.
"Really cool," huh? Aw... I mean, that's great. Thanks, Dex. Boy, this is harder than I thought.
Here is a bunch of links to help you REDUCE our hunger for stuff:
